The British Drilling Association

 

The British Drilling Association (BDA) was founded in 1976 and is the trade association for those associated with ground drilling activities. Comprising some 115 company members, it includes contractors, manufacturers and suppliers amongst others.


The range of member activity incorporates ground investigation, geotechnical processes & ground stabilisation (grouting, anchoring etc.), waterwell, mineral exploration, geothermal, landfill and other ground drilling.
The BDA’s mission statement is “Committed to Excellence in Health & Safety, Quality of Workmanship and Technical Standards for the Benefit of the Drilling Industry and its Clients”.

Pre-eminent amongst BDA activity is: -

  • Safety guidance documents
  • BDA AUDIT drilling operative competence scheme
  • Qualifications, education & training through NVQ Land Drilling, drilling apprenticeship scheme, CSCS etc.
  • Standards through BSI, codes of practice etc.
  • Industry promotion e.g. Geodrilling shows

It is a member of Ground Forum and NSCC (National Specialist Contractors Council) and enjoys good working relationships with both HSE and ConstructionSkills.
